,Welcome to Little House Berners!
My mission is to breed healthy, vigorous, long living Bernese Mountain Dogs that maintain the type and temperament outlined in the AKC Breed Standard. I test all my dogs on the OFA guidelines and register them in Bernergarde. I work with the Bernese Mountain Dog Vitality Project with most of my breedings. I believe the Bernese Mountain Dog has a serious genetic diversity deficiency that can no longer be resolved or mitigated through the standard breeding practices. I know this puts me in opposition to many legacy breeders, but my hope is that as the BMD Vitality Project continues in its mission to increase the genetic diversity of the Bernese Mountain Dog by out-crossing the breed with non-Bernese Mountain Dogs, the vision of the project to produce Bernese Mountain Dogs in type and temperament with high genetic diversity, increased longevity, improved vitality, and overall improved health over multiple generations will benefit all BMD breeders and owners long into the future. Because most of my breeding projects are through this organization, any puppies bred for the program will be placed through the program as well. Go HERE for more information on BMD Vitality project puppies.
I do still occasionally breed pure bred Bernese Mountain Dogs. I breed to lower genetic COI percentages. My goal is to increase the odds of the dog having a chance at better health. These dogs are typically for pet homes only, with spay/neuter contracts, and will have limited AKC registration.
I am located in central Oklahoma.
